ucc

My family loves UCC. We go there if we don't have anything to eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I feel like I'm in heaven every time we eat there. Not because of the cold air condition that will make a really big help in changing my mood since I hate the summer heat, but because of the food. From their ever famous seafood salad to their pork tocino with garlic rice and a sunny side-up, to their crepes and parfaits, everything just feels perfect!

While shopping with mom in Glorietta, we decided to eat first since our stomachs were growling and guess what, my mom and I have the said the same place to eat at.. UCC! Since it was already quarter to 5, we couldn't eat anything heavy anymore since we'll be eating dinner at my favorite Japanese restaurant, Seryna! So, here's what we ordered..

Waffles with frankfurter! Mmm! Happy tummy indeed!

The server gave me and extra menu that says Mais con Yelo Parfait. And since I love love love corn, I  needed to try it!

TADA! It was so sweet *i like sweet, okay?!*, heavenly and just oh-so-perfect! Aaah!

kitkat wonderland

I was first introduced to the Strawberry, Green Tea, and Blueberry Cheesecake flavored KitKat when my friend, Raven, gave me some and told me that her mom got them from Japan. When I finished my bar, I knew I just had to ask her where else I can buy but sadly, she said that they're only available in Japan. :(

But a week ago, she texted me again and told me that there was this all-Japanese store that sold ALL the flavors of KitKat in a much lower price, and that they also sold some seasonal flavors of KitKat like the Wasabi and Chili!

I had a trip to that store awhile ago and this is what we bought...

Yubari Melon, Green Tea and Strawberry

Blueberry Cheesecake and Dark Chocolate

Have a break, have not only one, but LOTS of Kitkat! ;)

malcolm's deli

Last Saturday, after having my class at Enderun, we headed straight to Malcolm's Deli for a snack. We were actually gonna have early dinner at Circles, Makati Shangri-La in an hour but I didn't mind eating some buttermilk pancakes!

People usually go there for breakfast but since I'm weird, I went there at 5 in the afternoon for a snack.

*Tip: If you have a really small appetite, I suggest you only order the
Mini Stack. Two pancakes will suffice because their pancakes are
bigger than the usual!

THE STAR OF THE DAY! Malcolm's Buttermilk Pancakes!
Probably the best in Manila! Next time, I will definitely go
on a morning!

singapore series: tori-q

While we were in the basement of ION Orchard, we came accross the food hall. (Read: Heaven for foodies) LOL! There are so many food stalls there, I assure you you'll have a hard time choosing where to order. In my case, I love chicken. So, there was a war between 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken and Tori Q. And guess what... I chose Tori Q because their Chicken Yakitori and Chicken Karaage looks so soft and tender! At first, I only ordered two sticks of the Chicken Yakitori and one stick of Chicken Karaage but as soon as I bit them, my mom knew I wanted more from my expression. ;) LOL

Chicken Yakitori and Chicken Ball
- BEST YAKITORI MY TASTE BUDS
HAVE EVER TASTED! I am speechless. The Chicken Ball
tasted okay. Nothing special!
Oh and, see that small bottle I'm holding? That's extra sauce for the
Chicken Yakitori and Chicken Ball!

Chicken Karaage - Soft and tender and tasty and
everything positive! Yumyum!

That's their menu.. Lots and lots to choose from.
It's really tempting to order everything.

singapore series: high society

For my birthday dinner, we had it in High Society. The restaurant looks intimidating when you're outside but once you go in, the intimidation goes away. Instead, you'll feel cozy because of the lights and couch!

See? LOL!

This is my mocktail! It consists cranberry, apple and a
hint of lychee. Delish!

For starters, we have...

Lobster salad served with petite salad tossed with truffle dressing
-The lobster has a hint of wasabi in it so, don't be surprised if
it tastes a bit spicy.

Pan seared foie gras served with petite mesclun and raisin sauce
-This is deliriously scrumptious! I fell in love with the softness
of the foie gras and how flavorful it is.

For main course, we had...

US Angus Ribeye: Pan seared 200g US Ribeye served with
Bordeaux sauce- I must say this is the REAL DEAL!!!
The price is cheaper compared to the steaks being served
here in Manila, yet, it's softer, bigger and yummier!

Chicken vin Jaune: Pan seared half baby chicken served with Madeira sauce
with asparagus, carrot puree and sauteed mushroom - The chicken was so soft
and tasty! Oh good Lord, why must all the chicken in Singapore be so soft and yummy?

Before you go in the restaurant, you'll see some desserts, and here they are!

See those?!?!?! I could live with them forever!

singapore series: pizzeria mozza

Since it was my birthday last April 7, we decided to have our lunch at Pizzeria Mozza by chef Mario Batali. We were actually supposed to eat at Cut by chef Wolfgang Puck but it was jam packed! So, we had to make do with Pizzeria Mozza instead. :)

The utensils were placed inside an envelope.. It does look like snail mail! LOL

And look! Their service water is placed inside a jar.. How
fancy can this restaurant get?

Calamari al forno with fagioli and oregano - I love how soft the squid was! Yum yum!

Nancy's chopped salad with raddichio, salami, aged provoloneci and
pepperoncini - I'm not a huge fan of salads but I did try this one. There
wasn't really anything spectacular about it. :(

Prawns al forno with potato and salsa romesco - This dish is
okay. Not perfect, but close to perfect.

Bacon, salami, fennel sausage, pancetta, tomato and mozarella pizza
-The taste of this pizza actually just tastes like the pizza from Yellow Cab.. Nothing
special. :(

singapore series: twg tea salon

For dinner last April 6, we tried TWG..
How we discovered it?
From The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands to ION Orchard to Takashimaya SC, TWG was present. The tea salon's interior was cozy, classy and when you sit inside, you would feel that you're back in the era of the 1800's and early 1900's.. Where tea was a necessity for almost every family.

They served us Silver Moon tea, it's very light and refreshing.

My dad ordered the Wagyu burger. I tried it and it was very very good.
The beef was so soft and tender that when you bite the burger, it just
melts in your mouth. Mmm! Oh and, did i also mention that the fries
had Wasabi powder on it? ;)

I had the TWG Tea Lasagna. You have a choice of:
-Garden vegetables with their signature homemade tomato and fresh basil sauce infused
with Moroccan Mint Tea.
-Bolognaise ragout with their signature homemade tomato and fresh basil sauce infused
with Moroccan Mint Tea.
-Seafood in a Love Me Tea infused cream sauce.
My mom got the Chicken En Brochette. The chicken was
really soft and tender!
And since the macaroons on their dessert cart looked so good, I tried some.
We asked the server which flavors were good and he suggested the
Chocolate and Caramel macaroons. HE WAS RIGHT!
I can't even explain how good the macaroons were!

We also ordered the Creme Brulee infused with Phuguri Darjeeling
and Vanilla Bourbon Tea. Their creme brulee was really sweet and I
think I can get diabetes within a cup. :(

singapore series: boon tong kee

I was in Singapore from April 4 to April 8 and I only did three things. Eat, eat and eat. Yup, I'm not ashamed of my appetite! So of course, while you're in Singapore, you better feast on Hainanese chicken since that's their specialty. I had my Hainanese chicken feast in Boon Tong Kee in Balestier road. The restaurant is not in the city itself so, you can't walk from your hotel to the venue. ;)

*I'm not going to put the exact name of the dish since I couldn't understand what the lady was saying because she was speaking so fast and was speaking in Chinese. LOL!

In the Mikaela Dictionary, Boon Tong Kee means...
A place where the perfect Hainanese chicken is served!

See that? That's one proof that the restaurant is really reaaaaally good.

This is steamed fish with some sauce that the girl said but I couldn't understand.
It's perfectly yummy though!

The star of the day.. HAINANESE CHICKEN!!!!
It's juicy, not fatty, and deliriously yummy. Need I say more?!

And this is the personal assistant of the superstar.. Hainanese rice!
I love how flavorful and grainy this dish is.

Perfect lunch, I must say!
